I have a female character at my court, I want to make her my Chancellor but she doesn't come up in the list of available candidates. Is this because she is a she? If so, can I change this? :)

Thanks in advance, I'm in Ireland playing the tutorial king.

Most christian faiths do not allow women to take position in the council (except as spymaster) as they are male dominated. You may want to convert to another faith or create your own (beware, your former coreligionists may not like that :) ).

So the game allows one of my courter to marry the daughter of West Francia's King but I am not? If this is intended. Why does this even make sense?

EDIT 1:
My only guess is this game is not yet tailored for playing really small shitty county. The game think my lowborn is equal with any other larger Kingdom's lowborn. So it doesn't give the -80 Modifier for marrying down.

EDIT 2:
So I might've actually exploited this and marry all my whoever lowborn in my court to marry people from large kingdoms. I don't know if this will be useful later, literally my first playthrough.

Is there a way to convert my character's culture?

There is a decision to convert to your capital's culture (and you can move your capital). Other than that I'm not sure.

You can also get your children educated wy someone of the desired culture (there will be a "change culture" checkbox when giving the ward) but that's for the next generation.

So... I have golden obligations. I have a bunch of hooks.

...How do I actually demand payments?

You should have an entry in the suggestion list. Other than that I think it's available in the menu when you right click on the character you have a hook on (probably in the hostile actions submenu). Note that if they don't have money they can't give it to you.

I'm trying to find someone to start a 1st game with... Is there no character selector or filter like with the 'find a wife' window? Because navigating this map is aggravating. I set the filter for counties, I see them, but when I click directly on one, it's the duchy or Kingdom they belong to that is selected...

Just click on a country/duchy and zoom in, then you should also see the little count flags you can click if you want to select a count. But I'd also love an actual list of characters in which I can filter for stuff and then select one.

Yeah, I don't have a suggestion and there's no diplomatic option for demanding payment on any of the 7 characters I have hooks on.
It shows up in your "issues" button list at the top of the screen ("Can demand payment"), but you can also select it via right-click on the person and then ...more (IF they have enough money to pay).

So yea It is kinda useful, maybe. I got to steal princesses and they are on my court now. LOL

EDIT: If I murder their spouse. Will they go back to their realm or stay in my court?

Isn't that only available when you're already in the game? The questioner was asking about character selection upon start.

You're right, my bad. But it can still be used to search for a character to play as: start a new game, don't unpause, search for landed characters with whatever you're looking for.

Question related to levies:
So it looks like I cant rise vassal levies as it was in CK2?
Any idea how it is working now?
Vassal are just giving me some kind of a manpower added to my main pool and I cant ask them to rise their personal levies?
Is that how it is working now in CK3?

Yes vassal levies are automatically added to your levy pool. No opinion penalty for using those anymore.

WARFARE - COUNTERS. I try to understand how actually counters working CK3. Wiki and in game descriptions are vague at best. It is easy to see what unit counters who,but what does it mean? Countered unit deal less damage? Have lower toughness? Every unit that counter somebody get bonus to statistics? What is it?

edit - ok now I see, that countered unit does deal x% less demage. Example 194 Konni counters 265 Bowmens. Archers deal 67% less damage (16 instead 25 for each unit).
But it would be great to see math behind this.

Other example - question: My Light Footmens deals 59% damage less (they are countered). But my forces deals 34% more damage (advantage). Does % sum? Is it 25% less damage for LF? Or is it firstly decreased by 59% (4 damage instead 10) and only after increased by 34%? (5 damage)???

And another interesting game mechanism that I found. If men-at-arms that is countered, counters other regiment, than it has almost no effect. Example Enemies pikemens (100 fighters) counters my Konnis (100 fighters). My Konnis counter enemies Metsanvartija (100 fighters). My Konnis deals 77% less damage. Enemies Metsanvatija deals only 10% less damage!!!

I was playing as the King of Ireland. My wife had a "Pressed Claim" on a neighboring County currently held by a man. Problem:
  1. When I go to declare war, it says I have a valid Casus Belli. I can even select the press claim CB for my wife. But I cannot choose the title in the Objective nor can I declare the war. The "Objective" list is empty.
  2. One of my vassals (male) also has a claim on said County. I can press his claim normally without any problem.
So what is going on? There is no description in the tooltip of why I cannot press my wife's claim.

In male dominated faiths you can't press women's claims unless the current holder is a woman or a child.

In the Wiki, it says "Each type of Men-at-Arms will counter another type, reducing their Damage based on the size of the countering Men-at-Arms. "

That sounds a bit vague. What it might mean is: if you have 300 archers (100 soldiers per "size" equals 3), then that reduces the damage of enemy skirmishers by 3, e.g. Horn Warriors would do 9 damage instead of 12 per attack. Is that correct?
