You're supposed to extract the whole thing to your Rome folder. I need to overwrite the base game cache because of the way Rome map cache works. Read the installation instructions.

Two things:
1) I upped attacker casualties to 1000.0 (from 0.4) in an assault in defines.txt. This prevents the AI from assaulting since they understand they would always lose.
2) I changed combat.gui so that the assault button is off screen, making it impossible for players to click it.

Please go to the bug thread and follow the procedure for a crash.

Hmm, that seems like some kind of bug, Borne. I'll have a look at it.

Keynes, it's possible that steam is the problem, I've never tested RoA with steam. I can only recommend trying to reinstall.

please upload it to something else besides Megaupload. it goes 1kb a sec and breaks after 20mins plus so I can't download :(

can someone please mirror it :)

Unfortunately both FileFront and MediaFire are giving me grief trying to upload it elsewhere. Anyone know of another site I might use?

Rebels are supposed to be a menace, yes. Makes it harder to occupy populous wrong-culture regions. It's possible the bonuses they get are overkill though... will look at it.

EDIT: Actually I removed the morale bonuses for rebels already.

Make sure you follow the installation instructions and write over the vanilla map folder.

I'm guessing you installed to program files? Generally not recommended with Paradox games. I don't know where the mod files have been placed though.

Yep, working on an update for it. Also gonna try to put some time in on character events this week.

In whose favor? Rome or Epirus? I just tried to play as Epirus but could not work out how to get the decision for the Pyrrhic Wars. There is no way I can win without my fleet of ships and my elephants....

Also how come Cyrenecia is independent at the game start? Magas did not get independence until well after Pyrrhic Wars.

Honestly I made Cyrenaica independent because I like having more small powers between great powers. I'll make them a tributary of Egypt to make it more historical (the governor was pretty autonomous even before Cyrenaica became independent).

How can I get the decision to become an Imperium? It's still in there, isn't it? Do I have to become some form of monarchy first? (Starting as Rome and became a Dictatorship).

You need to be a monarchy. I'll change it so dictatorships can become an Imperium too.

Hi there, i have a problem with the ROA, when game charges crashes in creating world, i dont know if its a problem of installation, i install it replacing mod an map folders as normal. I have windows 7 for your information. Can anyone help me pelase?

Thanks!!!!

Usually this crash is because of a bad map cache, so try a complete reinstall and make sure the cache gets properly overwritten.

Is it supposed to run very slowly? I like almost everything about the mod (except for the time limit, like always), but it just runs too slow for me. I might be spoiled from the regular game running lightning fast, but when the difference is probably something like 10x, it sort of ruins the experience. And this isn't just the opening months, but as far as I've bothered to play.

Vanilla has about 20 countries. RoA has 150 or so. It's gonna run slower, I can't avoid that.

Read the installation instructions! Rome's map cache causes some issues that will make your game crash if RoA is installed incorrectly.

RoA 2.00 BETA 2 (GameFront) for Vae Victis 2.35 BETA
RoA 2.00 BETA 2 (MegaUpload) for Vae Victis 2.35 BETA

Changelog:
- Now compatible with beta patch 2.35
- Further increased regiment reinforce speed.
- Further decreased ship repair speed.
- Provinces under siege now have a minimum revolt risk, making it risky to siege them with small armies.
- Occupied provinces now have a minimum revolt risk, and so are always at risk of being flipped back to their owner by a revolt.
- Reduced garrison sizes back down to 1000 per fort level.
- Increased the effects of cloth and leather on recruitment times.
- Made troop recruitment faster. Countries whose armies were destroyed but who still have manpower or money should be able to raise a new army very quickly.
- Cyrenaica is now a tributary of Egypt between 474 and 478 AVC.
- Removed the code intended to cut down on alliance chains since alliance chains are fixed (yay!)
- Mines now give a fixed tax income instead of a local tax modifier.
- Colonies will no longer disappear when you reload the game. They now make use of the building graphic for forestries.
- Forestries are gone. Irrigation can be built in provinces previously supporting a forestry.
- Removed the 'Increase Supply of Grain' mission as it was essentially a limitless slave making machine.
- Upped MTTH for election events so you don't get the same person repeatedly appointed despite vetoing their appointment.
- Changed around tech requirements for ideas a little.
- Fixed the requirements for dictatorship so you can no longer declare a dictatorship if you already are a dictatorship (whoops!).
- Colonizing an uncivilized (less than 50% civilization) province as a civilized power will now turn that province civilized.

Apparently the patch was all .exe so it was a pretty easy update!

I killed my code related to that. It's not needed anymore.

I'd like to ask for some help coming up with new events (character events mainly). This is what I have so far:

Republics:

- Insulted by diplomats of foreign ruler (rivalry between monarchs)
- Now is the time to attack our fierce rival (CB on rival ruler of same religion)
- Rival family member with ruler ambition claims the throne (sparks civil war, monarchy only)
- Disloyal unemployed influential character declares rivalry with ruler
- Influential rival is openly criticizing the monarch (lowers ruler popularity)
- Heir targeted by rival sibling who is in succession order (chance of being assassinated)
- Stability loss due to child king
- Support friendly ruler in a war (send money or chance of losing friendship)

Friends & Rivals:
- Disloyal characters become political allies (friendship)
- Loyal characters become political allies (friendship)
- Generals become rivals
- Character with high martial gives low martial friend pointers (+1 mar, one-time)
- Character with high charisma gives low charisma friend pointers (+1 cha, one-time)
- Character with high finesse gives low finesse friend pointers (+1 fin, one-time)
- Character is outmanuevered by rival with higher finesse (lowers prestige)
- Character is slandered by rival with higher charisma (lowers popularity)
- Character is challenged to a duel by rival with higher martial (chance of injury/death or loss of face)
- Public insult (choose to declare rivalry or forgive)
- Change traits / lose friend due to antitraits (cruel character is chastised by merciful friend, etc)
- Disloyal character tries to make loyal friend disloyal (choose whether to be more disloyal or chance to lose friend)
- Loyal character tries to make disloyal friend loyal (choose whether to be more loyal or chance to lose friend)
- Character is persecuted for being friends with imprisoned character (choose whether to lose friendship or lose popularity and prestige)
- Friendship ends due to distance (end friendship with non-rulers of other countries)

Children:
- Teenager attends wild parties

Family:
- Sibling friendship
- Sibling rivalry
- Unemployed family member gets angry (lowers loyalty)
- Unemployed sibling/child declares a rivalry with ruler

Provinces:
- Epidemic in province (lowers population, chance to infect characters residing there)
- Fire in province (lowers population, chance to kill characters residing there)

Governors:
- Bandits ravaging province (event for governor, can happen due to war exhaustion or low stability)
- Pirates ravaging coast (event for coastal governor, can happen if fleet is small)

Ministers:
- Each minister type needs bad events for disloyalty (embezzlement, troops deserting, etc)
- Each minister needs good events for friendship with ruler

Misc:
- Act of cruelty (-popularity for cruel character)
- A night of revelry (-wealth for lustful character)
- A day at the arena (spend money for a chance to win money/popularity)
- Fund charitable organizations (spend money to get generous/merciful traits and a bit of prestige or popularity)
- Event for loyal characters to donate wealth to the state during major wars
- Physician event for sick characters (spend money for chance to get better but can also get worse)
- Disloyal character with loyal regiments sparks civil war (some sort of option to buy him off here)
- Disease strikes siege force (increases attrition in a province for a while, chance of commander getting sick)
- Character composes family history (+prestige, can happen to popular characters or office-holders)

I especially need ideas for politics and family events, but I'll listen to any ideas you have.

Looks like I messed up when editing. I wasn't posting events I've done, but rather asking for help with event ideas and posting the ideas I already have.
