Waiting allows them time to expand whatever operation they're setting up, which will make them even more reluctant to abandon it.

I'm fine with waiting, though. I confidently expect Operation Blue Moon II to wreck first their jump point blockade, then the rest of their fleet, then the shipyards.

Pretty wild you were able to make more by working half the time.

Same thing happened to me when I finally got fed up with consultancies and went my own way.
Should have done that much earlier.

... or maybe not.

They've taken up orbit around the second moon of the fourth planet. That Moon is mineralized.

Hopefully this won't be a repeat of the Modron escalation to war. We have a colony with a 50,000 EM signature in Luyten.

Crap.

The Bork continue to hang out on a moon in the Luyten's Star system.

I don't really care if they mine one of our moons... but will it remain at that level of irritation, or escalate?

As long as they don't start demanding we leave .. annoying stuff though. Maybe send a fleet to make a point about that system before they drop too much stuff.

Does everybody agree that we should accelerate the time-table and launch Operation Blue Moon II as soon as the current Mountain class Tender is filled?

That will probably be a month or six weeks from now.

Agreement here. I think the real threat is something interrupting us before we can execute.

Sounds Good.

Makes me wonder how that came to be.
Seriously? How did the Panama canal come to exist? Do you think it is natural and was always there? No. It is essentially a big "ditch" dug across the isthmus of Panama. Not entirely accurate as the land is not flat so there are a series of locks and ponds. Look it up someday. The operation is fascinating. Though, to be honest, we would have been better off going through Nicaragua instead.

Also interesting is the story of how the USA snaffled the isthmus in the first place.

Going through either Nicaragua or Columbia (who then owned the spot later chosen for the canal) would have involved splitting control of the canal (and of the revenues!) with the government of that country. It is, after all, being built on their land. Instead, the USA sent an adventurer (named Walker?) into Columbia with LOTS of money and a few good men (or skillfully bad men), and fomented a revolution, largely through bribery of local officials. They then declared independance from Columbia, and the USA immediately recognized the new country of Panama and intimidated Columbia into doing nothing about the outrageous theft of the northern quarter of their country.

The contract for the building of the canal was then signed between the USA and their adventurer / revolutionary / puppet.

AFAIK.

search "green flash sunset" not just "green flash"
Here's the picture that comes up first when i searched.
It is a nice pic, and seems to be hosted on a site that shows many other pics of said green flash.
I hope this posts as i have added content to let the forum decide that i am not posting spam

apparently i have not succeeded. If you search "green flash sunset" this should be the wording on the first link

Yes. The sooner we get out of this holding pattern the better.

Or to paraphrase it into what you said:

I know it's dug. It's just by ditch I think much smaller things. Plus isn't several og those lakes natural?

And yeah, I've heard Nicaragua apparently is a better route, even if it's longer.

Ah. Thanks.
So it happens every single day at sunset? But never at sunrise?
And can be seen all over the world as long as there's line of sight?

It happens often, but the conditions have to be just right which is why after 16 years at sea, I have actually seen it with my own eyes twice. It does happen also at sunrise but it is more elusive to actually catch on film or see with your eyes. At sunrise, you have to anticipate where the sun will be at the right time. It is "easier" to see at sunset. Personally, I have never seen it at sunrise

Ah. If you're close enough to the poles that thr sun during summer only is a few degrees below the horizon you can predict where it rises, or will that prevent the flash from appearing?

16 years? You sailed 6 years in the navy?

Yes. Mostly on gator freighters but I also spent time on the USS America cv66. Only a few weeks they had a small detachment of 10 of us. We berthed with the SEALs and EOD guys. I was surprised at all the different types of units represented on the carrier. CIA, USAF, NIS(now called NCIS), officers from various NATO countries, civilian tech reps and "contractors". It was an eclectic mix to be sure.

So:

We have 12 fully loaded Mountain class Tenders, carrying between them 288 Partystarters armed with a total of just under 1,700 SRAM short range attack missiles.

We are currently filling a 13th Mountain (with an additional 24 Partystarters and 141 missiles) and will be done in less than a month.

We had originally intended to fill the two remaining empty Mountains as well, for a grand total of 15 loaded Mountains, but we have dropped that aspect of the planned preparations in order to advance the schedule by about five months.

This will leave us short by 48 Partystarters and 282 missiles from our original planned alpha-strike... but that shouldn't be a problem.

My original calculation (two and a half years ago, after our scout was ambushed and destroyed) was made on the assumption that the enemy force that we would need to defeat at the jump point blockade would be TWICE the size of the force that had actually waxed our scout. In other words, I assumed that the enemy would be able to double the size of their defending force by the time we were ready to attack.

... so we should still have enough to wreck the ambush, with an ample margin of error.
