Regarding the huge monster Laser... the same TONNAGE of DP weapons instead will plaster a target.

Kilogram for kilogram, it's impractical. But it does put on a good show.

... and when you shoot somebody with it, they STAY shot.

Same reason I prefer a 45 over a 9mil. Especially now with extended mags for the 1911. I am all in :)

Our first foray into the "six jumps from Earth" ring of stars takes us to the new star system of 54 Piscium, which is 36.2 light-years from Earth.

The home planet of our NPR opponent is somewhere between 40 and 70 light-years away, remember.

Only A-II looks like a real threat... the other planets that happen to fall within the proper temperature and gravity ranges have no atmospheres.

We'll send a probe out to A-II.

Actually...

... since all of this is procedurally generated anyway... we will probably encounter our enemy in whichever direction we DECIDE to explore.

Would it be cooler if both we and the NPR opponent had to send our war-fleets THROUGH the Black Hole system in order to attack each other?

We could probably arrange that by exploring mostly in that direction. We're already over the 40 light-year mark in that sector (43.2 ly).

That assumes they aren't also exploring with wild abandon..

Woulnd't the opponent hav been generated at start?

Is it possible for the NPR to get itself destroyed by the prix?
Very, very unlikely. The Prix don't normally leave the systems they spawn in.

Could they spawn in the same system as teh NPR?

I thought the Prix could if you show them the jump point?

It would require the NPR to be very stupid and very unlucky, but is it possible?
Yes. That's how this works.
Edit: or used to.

But... Even then the Prix would have to bombard the NPR home world to smithereens in order to kill the NPR. They don't have troop transports so they can't invade. And NPR's have pretty well developed planets with things like STO. It would not exactly be easy for the precursors either.

So yes, it's possible.. but unlikely to the point of not being worth considering. Other threats are more dangerous. The swarm at least explore and expand. Other NPR's can get generated and trigger a war.

But even in those cases, the chances of the original NPR getting fully wiped off the map are still pretty low. And possibly simply replaces one threat with a different threat.

Did it use to be possible that Prix spawned in Sol?
No, spoilers in Sol at game start was never possible. But I have had a game end to Invaders attacking Sol, and another one where Swarm did the same. Lots of players have had NPR invade Sol too. The threat is real but of course depending on game settings. It's more forgiving nowadays.

Look at the strength of the RADAR signature, and at the speed of the ship.

These look like late-game opponents. Invaders?

This should make Randakar very happy!

Oh wow. 20.000 KPS? Whatever they are, that's pretty advanced. Either we just ran into our NPR empire, or we found the Invaders almost as soon as it was possible.

This is on the other side of the black hole, right? It will take a bit for them to find us.
Edit, nope. Close, but different connection.

Yeah, this is awesome. Very exciting, love to see what happens next!

Is this the 6th exploration ring? Because if it is, it's definitely my fault ;)
