July-Oct 1941

July 1, 1941 : We won battles against Soviet Union in Cheboksary, Uralsk and Kazan.

1july41.jpg

July 3, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Novouzensk.

July 4, 1941 : We won battles against Soviet Union in Kotelnich and Melekess.

July 6, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Novouzensk.

July 7, 1941 : We won battles against Soviet Union in Guriev, Kuybyshev and Izhevsk.

July 8, 1941 : We won a battle against Belgium in Douala.

July 9, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Kirov.

July 10, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Chkalov.

July 11, 1941 : We won a battle in Naberezhnye Chelny today. In Siam today there was a right-wing coup d'état. Might the Japanese be busy preparing for a move of their own? Hitler ponders the future of the Far East. Should he embrace Japan as an ally and be true to the tripartite pact signed earlier, or should he sell the Japanese out and conquer them for himself. He holds off on this decision for now. He anticipates the Americans to be the real threat, and therefore thinks it more likely he will want to ally with Japan to ensure the US is fighting on two fronts.

July 12, 1941 : Partisans revolt in Ostrogozhsk! Nearby Panzer Grenadiers are immediately ordered to quell the disturbance.

July 13, 1941 : We won a battle against Partisans in Ostrogozhsk. The disturbance was removed easily enough, but the threat of future revolts looms large. Hitler hopes to finish this war with Russia before such disturbances become commonplace.

July 19, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Osa.

August 2, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Kostanai.

August 4, 1941 : II. Panzer Corps has arrived in Sverdlovsk. With the objectives met, Hitler orders troops to assemble in an easily defended line and await word on negotiations with Stalin. Ribbentrop is immediately dispatched to meet with Stalin. In the meantime, with the action in the East abating, and with the gurantees of independence for Switzerland having expired, Hitler decides now is the time to secure his internal lines and declares war upon Switzerland. The Heer quickly overruns positions facing Zurich, Bern and Geneva, but the line in Chur province holds strong.

sverdlovsk.jpg

August 5, 1941 : We won a battle against Belgium in Bata.

August 6, 1941 : With reinforcements arriving from the Zurich area, we attacked Chur province again and broke through.

August 10, 1941 : We won a battle against Soviet Union in Chelyabinsk.

August 11, 1941 : Hitler declares the annexation of Switzerland! Hitler orders immediate redeployment of many armies to Persia and other strategic points. Facilities in Greenland are upgraded to include a port, airfield, radar station and anti-aircraft. The infrastructure is also being worked on.

August 12, 1941 : The Heer reports the first Panzergrenadier Division has been upgraded to Mechanized Infantry '43.

August 16, 1941 : We won a battle against Belgium in Libreville.

August 26, 1941 : Ribbentrop returned from his meeting with Stalin. The Soviet Union has surrendered, on the condition that they are allowed to keep all territories not currently occupied by the Germans, and all territories East of the Ural Mountains. Hitler once again curses Il'Duce for his landing on the Kerch Peninsula, but agrees with the terms. Berlin was lit up that night with fireworks and fun as the German people celebrated their great victory over their ancient nemesis. Hitler then orders units to take up positions for winter operations against the allies in both Africa and Asia.

bitterpeace.jpg

September 5, 1941 : The US Congress passed the Lend-Lease Act. The first shipment was sent to the surviving UK. This makes Hitler all the more determined to once and for all end the allied war effort.

September 13, 1941 : After having marched over 3000 miles in non-stop skirmishes, the mountain forces assigned to sieze Brazzaville were beaten back by spirited Belgian resistance. Hitler ordered a few days rest to reorganize before resuming the advance.

September 15, 1941 : The USA and UK agreed to a deal to trade old US Destroyers for UK bases in the Western Hemisphere. Hitler wonders if this could show that Churchill can read the writing on the wall and is unloading a few of the prizes before we can sieze them. The preparations for the new offensive continue.

September 29, 1941 : Having rested, the Africa Corps attacks Brazzaville anew. This time, the decision is decidedly in Germany's favor.

September 30, 1941 : KMS Lohengrin and KMS Germania are commissioned into the Kriegsmarine, marking the achievement of the KMs overall strength goal. Production now shifts to quality and two new CVs of a much improved design are laid down.

October 2, 1941 : Wanting to complete the securing of Europe, Germany and Italy declared war upon Portugal and quickly overran the border provinces.

October 5, 1941 : USA sent more supplies to the UK.

October 6, 1941 : We won a battle against Portugal in Lissabon. The return of winter conditions in the northern areas begins to take its toll on manpower once again. Therefore, Hitler orders a new suspension on reinforcements to save available MP for new units.

October 17, 1941 : II. Mountain Army HQ has arrived in Cabinda.

October 26, 1941 : We won a battle against South Africa in Banana. Hitler holds a planning meeting with his staff. The decision is reached that a two pronged offensive is to be made against the allies.

The Western prong will consist of the Baltic Fleet, one Marine Army and the Mountain Army already in Africa. It will drive and island hop south through the Atlantic while driving along the coast of Africa. The eventual goal will be the annexation of Belgium and South Africa, which is already being harrassed by Italian forces advancing down the East coast of Africa.

The Eastern prong will consist of major army assets of all types, plus the Kriegsmarine and a Marine Army. The land part will drive through Persia and on through India and SE Asia. The KM and Marines will island hop through the Indian Ocean, then on into the Indies in order to complete the annexation of the Netherlands and Portugal. Continued activity beyond these points will depend on the status of events in Asia regarding Japan and the United States. We hope to be in a position to move against whatever additional targets present themselves.

Hello,

Very good read. Something just occurred to me. I have seen no mention of paratroopers being used. Did you not persue that technology? I'm curious because I loved them in HoI1 and seeing their "bonuses" (or shall we say lack of penalties) against forts I had planned on producing at least 4 and more preferably 6 for my own Greater Reich.

Also, have you produced any Superheavy BBs? I'm working on two just because ... If you know what I mean.

If you have a look at post #159 you will see that paratroopers are not on the menu in this game. The same goes for a lot of the different plane types. Only the conqueror of Russians knows about the superheavy battleships but I wouldn't bet on it.

Another brilliant update, Crisisman! Do you have a screenshot of the last province in the russian pocket being closed? How many divisions were in there at the end? How many divisions does Russia have left?

November 8, 1941 : We won a battle against Persia in Esfahan. Marines landed in The Azores.

November 10, 1941 : Marines landed in The Seychelles. The Kreigsmarine reports deployment of new CAGs featuring a naval variant of the new Fw.190 fighter. A further update shows the new H44 class super-battleships coming along nicely. They should be added to the fleet in late 1942.

November 14, 1941 : Marines landed in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

November 15, 1941 : Marines landed in Reunion and Mauritius.

November 16, 1941 : II. Marine Army HQ has finished unloading in Villa Cisneros.

November 28, 1941 : V. Marine Corps has finished unloading in Cap Verde Islands. We also defeated South African forces in Vila Henrique de Carvalho.

December 2, 1941 : IV. Marine Corps has finished unloading in Bissão.

December 5, 1941 : We won a battle against Persia in Yazd.

It will take two months to reach postions for the main thrust into India, as well as a move against Afghanistan.

December 26, 1941 : We won a battle against South Africa in Benguella.

December 28, 1941 : We won battles against South Africa in Vila Pereira d'Eça and Nova Lisboa.

January 13, 1942 : We won a battle against South Africa in Coquihatville. Marines have taken Mocamades and East London.

January 18, 1942 : South Africa is annexed into the Reich. Hitler realigns the western forces to mop up remaining pockets and to prepare for invasion of targets in the Western Hemisphere. He gives permission for extended leave, however, as no operation into the Americas is planned until Asia is secure. For now, they will simply hold the avenues across the Atlantic to prevent the allies from reaching Europe or Africa.

southafrica2.jpg

February 4, 1942 : I. Marine Army HQ has finished unloading in Diego Garcia Island.

February 14, 1942 : Marines have taken Trincomalee and Colombo. Naval forces advance to this position for further operations into the Dutch East Indies and beyond.

ceylon.jpg

February 16, 1942 : IV. Marine Corps has finished unloading in Falkland Islands. It was an extremely long range operation, and beyond the ability of the Baltic Fleet to escort the transports, but it was judged worth the risk to remove the last allied base in the South Atlantic.

February 19, 1942 : Marines have landed in Nicobar and Andaman Islands.

March 2, 1942 : USA went with Send more supplies in Lend-Lease Shipment to the UK. Hitler considers for a moment that Japan and the USA have not gone to war. Hitler decides that if Japan does not help the cause, then he will have no choice but to remove sieze the entirety of Asia, including Japan, prior to operations in the Americas. In the meantime, forces in India launch their all out offensive to clear the allies from the mainland once and for all.

Now you're really bringing down the drain on your TC.

What do you normally use as escorts for your transporters? Is it (almost) always one of your two main battle fleets or are you going with something cheaper allowing you to spread them out a little more?
Sorry to repeat my question but what is the status of Mother Russia? Is she totally beaten, or could she still put up a fight if you turn your back on her for too long?

Wow... That's one hell of an AAR.

The only problem is it's a bit lacking in drama. You are way to good for the level you are playing at :p

The most interesting part was the naval battle with the UK and the invasion of France. As soon as it became clear the Soviets could even break down your garrison after the DOW'ed you it kind of became clear the rest of the game would be mop up.

Is there any chance at all of you not winning this thing? You MP reserves are low, but that doesn't seem to be slowing you down in the least...

Anyway, great AAR and I can't wait to see the invasion of China, Japan and the US. Heh, I wonder if it's possible to invade and annex every single country in the world.

Yeah, getting the USSR to make peace really helped the TC load.

I'm using the battle fleets for escort. They have the same speed, so they always arrive together. The battle fleet provides shore bombardment. It works very well. My secondary transport groups(non-marines) will be unescorted. If they are in a "hot" zone, I fly naval bombers in front of them to make sure the area is safe.

As for the USSR, they were down to 50 divisions, 20 air units and 20 subs when peace was made. They have about 180 IC left, so I anticipate they will rebuild at least partially. I am leaving a respectable garrison on their border so that I am not caught off guard if they try to backstab me.

The one force on Earth that really scares me at the moment is the US navy! They now have over 200 vessels, including a few new CVs and BBs. Their land forces, however, are still pitifully small(but growing).

March 1942 - Churchill, the most stubborn man on Earth.

March 15, 1942 : Germany and Italy declared war upon Afghanistan. Battles are quickly won in Kabul, Herat, Jodhpur, Ahmadabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Bikaner.

15march41.jpg

March 17, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Jaipur.

March 22, 1942 : We won battles in Feyzabad, Delhi and Jabalpur.

March 23, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Srinagar.

March 24, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Surat and Rajkot.

March 25, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Kanpur, Meerut and Lahore.

March 28, 1942 : Afghanistan are now part of our nation! Some forces remain to garrison the Russian border, but the rest turn to move on into India.

March 29, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Lucknow.

April 1, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Bombay.

April 2, 1942 : USA sent another Lend-Lease Shipment to the UK. Also, today, Ribbentrop was dispatched to a meeting with Churchill to discuss a possible end of hostilities. Hitler gave strict instructions to demand surrender and concessions. He put forth Hitler's terms, and Churchill rebuffed the attempt saying, "There is still hope." Hitler shakes his head in dismay. Fewer than 50 surviving UK divisions, and a rapidly dwindling list of "allies" will not stop him now. Do they know something that Adolph doesn't? Is the United States on the verge of entering the fray? It matters not, decides Hitler. We shall hunt the allies to the ends of the Earth and assimilate them all into the Reich.

Wow! You've taken Germany quite far!

Though I'd love to see an attempted seaborne invasion of the US of A.

You've done well, but you're manpower is 4! If the Americans have built a substansial # of divisions to go along with the huge armada they build I don't see how you can do it.

April 9, 1942 : We won battles in Nagpur, Satpura Mountains and Kolhapur. We also began a long battle in Vishakhapatnam. The following screenshot shows the Marines landing in force against a single division of Cromwell tanks. It was a tough fight. Also note I have added the Stony Road graphics. This particular battle lasted until the 11th of April, when the Cromwells were finally overwhelmed.

42april10.jpg

April 12, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Pune, Ranchi and Indore.

Thanks for this great AAR Crisisman ! :)

Same question as Rasmus40, and also, why are you wasting so much IC ???
I see plenty of resources in Berlin AND more than 150 wasted IC on the screenshot  .
If you already upgraded/reinforced everything that can be, why not build more consumer goods and get more money and/or build last generation Navy while you may disband the old CVs to get some manpower back.
Or even, if it comes to it, build more factories, improve infrastructure to go faster, etc...

I am so amazed by the amount of wasted IC !!

May - July 1942

May 2, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Comilla and Dimapur.

May 3, 1942 : Nepal are now part of our nation!

May 4, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Chittagong.

May 6, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Riang.

May 7, 1942 : Infantry was amphibiously landed ahead of the main advance and defeated the garrisons in Sittang and Rangoon. Thier orders are to spread out and advance North to trap the remaining brits between two converging forces.

May 9, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Imphal.

May 12, 1942 : Marines landed in Kota Bahru and Kuantan.

May 16, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Akyab and Arakan.

May 18, 1942 : At Hitler's early morning press conference, he issued a statement reporting the siezure of Macao and Hong Kong. This, along with the occupation of Bhutan allowed a further declaration of the annexation of both Bhutan and, at long last, Portugal. With the realization that the German Reich is capable of spreading around the globe, President Roosevelt announced the USA will adopt a belligerent policy in "The undeclared war." Hitler gives the order to his naval forces to continue through the South Pacific with the next objective being the annexation of The Netherlands.

May 24, 1942 : Marines landed in Jesselton, Miri and Kuching.

May 26, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Kalewa.

May 29, 1942 : Marines landed in Dumai and Bangka Island.

June 3, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Myitkyina. The forces converging in northern Burma are overwhelming. It is only a matter of time now before the last bastion of resistance on the mainland falls.

June 5, 1942 : Marines land in Padang and Oosthaven.

June 6, 1942 : We won battles against United Kingdom in Kunchaung and the Shan States.

June 9, 1942 : I. Marine Corps has finished unloading in Semarang.

June 11, 1942 : III. Marine Corps has arrived in Semitau. A short while later it is reported that a supply convoy in the North Malacca Strait was attacked and lost 2 transports! The Kriegsmarine and Marinefliegercorps were immediately dispatched to the area to remove the offending forces and clear the convoy lanes. By noon, the Fw-200 bombers had spotted the offending vessels and began to bomb them. A series of air-sea battles developed over the next few days between the Dutch Navy and the KM, while landings were being made in the area.

June 13, 1942 : We won a battle against Netherlands in Tjilatjap.

June 14, 1942 : We won a battle against Netherlands in Batavia. Marines also landed in Mahakam.

June 21, 1942 : Marines landed in Palembang. The continuing series of air-sea battles came to its climax on this day. The Dutch Navy fought their last major action in Gaspar Strait. They lost the 5e Torpedobootjager Smaldeel(DD), 4e Torpedobootjager Smaldeel(DD), HNMS Zeeland(CL), 1e Torpedobootjager Smaldeel(DD), 2e Torpedobootjager Smaldeel(DD). They had lost a similar number of vessels over the last week.

June 22, 1942 : USA went with Send more supplies in Lend-Lease Shipment to the UK.

June 24, 1942 : III. Marine Corps has arrived in Pontianak.

June 27, 1942 : Marines landed in Malang and Djokjakarta.

June 28, 1942 : II. Marine Corps has arrived in Balikpapan.

July 2, 1942 : The Heer reports the first batch of Infanterie Divisions have been upgraded to Infantry '43. All services report a number of new technologies very near service entry. It is hoped that these new weapon systems will restore some of the technologic edge that has slipped away over the past few months. It has been noted especially that UK ground forces, especially armor, posed serious threats in a number of battles. Fortunately, we were always able to outnumber them at the point of contact. Marines landed today in Madura and Soerabaja.

July 5, 1942 : We won a battle against United Kingdom in Nai Ga, the last holdout of the Royal Army in India.

July 6, 1942 : Marines landed in Sumbawa, Bali and Lombok.

July 11, 1942 : Marines landed in Bandjermasin, Makassar and Samarinda.

July 24, 1942 : The Kriegsmarine today completed another long sought objective. By landing in the Admiralty Islands, Aitape, Sarmi, and especially Hollandia, all objectives in Dutch territory have come under control of the German Reich. Hitler joyously announces the annexation of The Netherlands.

42july23.jpg

July 28, 1942 : After discussing the politics of the Far East with Ribbentrop, Hitler gave the order to launch operations against Tibet and Siam as soon as troops were in place. As a full Mountain Army was already in Bhutan, action against Tibet was begun immediately. Tibetan forces in Xigaze quickly fell back before the assault. Forces were ordered to take up positions on the Siamese border, including the recall of Marines from Hollandia to act as a southern force to advance out of Malaya.

July 30, 1942 : The Luftwaffe reports that at long last she has reached her total strength goal of 8000 first line combat aircraft. They consist of 3200 Bf.109G Fighters, 3200 Ju-88 Tactical Bombers and 1600 Fw-200C Naval Bombers. From this point on, no new Luftwaffe units will be built until special secret weapons become available. The focus will switch to upgrading to newer models and replacing losses. The Kreigsmarine has already met its surface fleet goals and is building new units to replace older vessels and losses. U-boat production is still about 80 boats shy of the 300 U-boat goal. The Heer reports it has discontinued production of Garrison and Infantry units at 70 and 176 divisions respectively. The savings in manpower of slowing down production is allowing an increase in the rate of replacements for existing units. New manpower is being raised at the rate of about 2500 recruits per day(2.5 MP).

Not wasted, just temporarily idle. I had nothing to upgrade for a while, but I still like to hold 20% or so of IC in the Upgrade slider so that it is there the moment a tech is completed to immediately begin the upgrades without having to scrap other project in mid stream or wait for the IC to become free again. The CG idea has merit, and I use it when I get a bit of dissent, but my money situation is just fine so I don't worry about it. If I was below 1000 money I would do as you suggest.
