I've once again done a little work on this scenario. Still not enough for an update yet though. One thing was fixing a little error in an event that I notice when playing the Roman Empire. Event 100117 gave a core on Bremen, it will no longer do that in the next version.

Now is anyone interested in helping with this scenario? There is still much work to do.

I have an suggestion for Scandinavia. Remove Denmark from the 476 scenario. The danes came from Sjaelland, not Jutland. Change it to Jutland and give it jutish culture. There was no Denmark in this era.
And create a one province minor on Gotland. Gotland was probably the most developed society in Scandinavia for this period of time, had trade connection with both franks and romans, heck they coul even have a small COT.

Sure no problem. Got some time now for helping out and ideas for events for WRE, ERE and Bavaria
-Give WRE more CB's if they expand. Nice if you play WRE yourself.
-If you manage to reclaim all the former territories of the old-WRE-> BONUS. Money, deflation, stability and rebels..
ERE
-The great riots in Constantinople.
-Loss of taxvalue and population in Anatolian provincies due to Arab raids in the eighth and ninth century. ERE must become weaker historically.
Bavaria
-trigger its conversion to christianity.

yourworstnightm:
Consider it done except the CoT on Gotland. I don't think Scandinavia needs a CoT.

Mendoran:
WRE: An event were they may get more CBs if they conquer all the additional cores given in WRE100016a is not something I would mind having. But restoring the old WRE is its own reward, don't you think ;)
ERE: I have made the Nika rebellion, though I wouldn't mind a better description for that event than the one I have written. Loss of tax value and population due to Arab raids in the eigth and ninth century I agree should be done, but I've yet to complete events to make the Caliphate gain more then the Arabian peninsulas western and southern coast from Medina to Dofhar :p. One thing I'm considering to weaken ERE is to remove Egyptian and Syrian culture (Roman will go at the time of Heraclius), possibly during the reign of Justinian or from the start (or some other point of time). And the creation of the Exarchates and the Lombards going to Italy (both yet to be implemented) will atleast reduce their income and manpower a least some bit. And I haven't mentioned the Slavic migrations yet (also to be done... ).
Bavaria: That should definately be in. What year should it be?

The Berbers seems to advance to fast (when playing with ERE (in 526), in the early 7th century they are among the top when it comes to military, they have land level 7 (from 3) (same as me, the Persians and some other nations such as the Vandals (they choose c and since I wasn't that eager in crushing they now has two provinces, the second is Oran held by Awraba, and and army of 52k) and Girdyaman), the Caliphate only has 5 (from 3). For the moment I have reduced their known-provinces, but I'm wondering, should we make them pagans? That would reduce their tech advancement, however I know nothing of what religion they really should have so I don't know wether it would be correct or not.

[/QUOTE]

Pheeew there's a lot to be done!
WRE:Yeah ok, I just got carried away by the thought of restoring the WRE
ERE: Working on the Arab raids. Historically it was as frequent as the seasons. So with a reocurring event they should maybe loose 4 or 5 taxvalue per province in total. I think it should depend if the Arabs get Damascus or Antioch. That were rather strategic cities.
If the Arabs take some provs with harbours they should also raid the Mediterranean islands. It's a little bit like domino now.

Removing Egyptian en Syrian culture is good thing. But during Justinian period is very early. What was the reason?
Make it dependable on events. If ERE looses Damascus loose Syrian, if they loose Cairo loose Egyptian. The loss of Egypt(except Alexandria) and Syria (maybe except Antioch) should be a swift occurance. As like you did with the Ostrogths in Italy.
In 630 the ERE just finished a grinding twenty year war with the Persians when the Arabs took them both on. So it was a tip over for the Arabs. :D

Bavaria: A year. That's a tough one. Under Tassilo I (591-610) Frankish missionairies started their conversions.
But that says not much about the rulers. Garibald I (553-591) was married to the former queen of the Franks in 561. So she must have been christian since the Franks became it offcially in 511. Some blessing of the church was needed to marry her off to Garibald because her other marriages were denied by the church.
Garibald I Agilolfinger was posted as the first duke of Bavaria and related in some way to the Frankish king. So he might be christian too.
I think the best year is 561, with the marriage of those two crazy kids.

Some other things:
-Event: Bonifatius founded the monestary of Fulda in 744 (EU prov Ansbach). You should give it the same event as the burgundian event 101600.
-The capitol of the early Bavarians was named Ratisborn.
-Thuringen becomes christian in 741 when the Bishoprics were set up.

-Those Berbers should definately be pagans. I looked it up and all the Northafrican provinces west and south of Caesarea should be pagan.
The Oran en Tanger province had small minorities of christians around 400 but
keep them pagan too for the sake of easy conversion to Islam.

Berbers are now pagans, and I made three events for Bavaria
Code:

Now I found a map of 486 where the Visigoths didn't yet have all of Iberia (except Vasconia & Suevi). Now I've added a nation named Hispania (provinces Andalusia, Gibraltar, Algarve & Estramaduras. Maybe Granada could be added but that would probably make them too powerful) to fill that territory. That nation is really really weak, and their diplomatic relations are low, so this far they seem to be on their own diplomatically, and the Visigoths don't have any real trouble defeating them, only trouble is that Suevi might join the fun, but the Visigoths should be able to handle that on their own. One good thing is that this would increase the chances for Franks to trigger the fall of the Tolosan Kingdom, as the Visigoths have less provinces, and waste resources to battle Hispania.

Mendoran:
ERE: 4 or 5 tax value per province seems a little much considering they mostly are 5 or 6 with a few exceptions. IMHO 2, 3 or 4 total loss would be better when a loss of 4 are for those richer provinces or those who are to remain as little more then useless deserts.
Well Justinian was not very tolerant, and they should loose those cultures before the Arabs comes knocking on the door. Should think some more about when those cultures are to be lost for the ERE.

Bavaria: The first two of those Bavarian events where made 20 minutes
or so before I saw your post, the last Bavarian and the Thüringian were made after I saw the post. The marriage could be used, but I think that should probably just give them a royal marriage and Bavaria maybe become a vassal to the appropriate of the Frankish kingdoms. Or maybe get christianity as their statereligion then, but have the province convert in the 696 event? I don't know what would be the best.

And now to the Franks. Is anyone interested in doing them. What would be needed would be to polish the events before 511. After 511 I would want to have all the four Kings (meaning atleast two tags more) and although information on what King ruled from which city (Orleans, Soissons, Reims & Paris) when is relatively easy to find, it is more difficult to find what they had in provinces. And the events in for that time would probably need all to be replaced.

And something about the Langobards, Rugians and Heruls. What religion should they start with in 476? I think Heruls should stay as pagan, but the Langobards might already be Arian (they were mixed between both Arians and pagans when entering Italy IIRC), but I have no idea whatsoever about the Rugians. The only thing I actually know about them is that they were in Austria, got their country crushed by Odovakar and many of them joined the Ostrogoths :p. If Langobards where Arians, it would seem likely that Rugians would also be that.

I do think the North African coast should remain Christian all along - switch by event. The Mediterranean fringe was a major Christian wellspring before Islam entered the area.

The Begining of Islam is pretty scarce Lofman, you should revise and add them ;) but a I liked the scenario, but it was pretty hard converted the Persians and Egyptians, although they did converted fairly quickly. Also Persia should collapse quicker, no?

A pair of things:

1) It's Battle of River Guadalete and not Guadalquivir :p
2) Chronichles tell about a guy called Petrus being Tyrant of the Lands not controlled by Wisigoths, he was killed 506, when did he became tyrant is unknown but you could use him as monarch :p

Look what I'm up to. It's an eight-player, moderately simple strategy game that extends from 642 to 1071 and from Iceland to Arabia. As you can see, it's not remotely finished.

DKGjpeg.jpg

Earl Uhtred: The coast will remain christian. Now you earlier said IIRC that you had made events for Kent. It would be nice to have them ;)

Calipah: I agree that there is a lot more to be done there. There are events now (in the next update) that will more often than not give them all arabic provinces except the provinces of the Ghassanids and Hirah's capital.

Txini: 1) Thanks, will rename event accordingly.
2) Yes that's a good idea.

Lofman great events for the Visigoths. I'll hope the Arabs will get to Morocco.

ERE:
About Arab raids in Anatolia.
In the 632 scenario the Anatolian provinces have a fairly high income. Is reducing taxvalue having it's effect on the basetaxvalue or the value in total?
If it's the first than Ill put in populationreduction in the events to reduce the taxe indirectly.
I was thinking about five land raid events on Anatolia available from 635 and three Arab pirate raids on the Mediterrenean islands when the Arabs have some harbours. Per raid is suggest four provinces are effected because it's a heavy raiding party that drops on them and not a full scale plundering and pillaging of a complete region, like ít's scorched earth tactics.
Taxvalue will be reduced by one or two per event, depending on the wealth of the provinces.
One event that's whipes all taxvalue away in one stroke isn't fun for the gameplay, I think.

Bavaria:
Your events are really good. Wikipedia is great for info, ;)
an event in 561 with RM, vassalage and conversion of state religion would be ok.But this option should cost them some money to stop them from converting provinces straight away.
-I made a big mistake  with the Fulda foundation. It's not in Ansbach but in Hesse. It would be a conversion then for the area not a infrabonus.

After the cutting down of the sacred Donar's oak in Fritzlar in the 730's by Boniface the Germanic peoples in the area swiftly converted to catholicism. The foundation was the last chapter for paganism in the Hesse region."

-And a eventscript for Thuringen
"After getting support from the Karolingian kings Boniface went to the pagan Thuringians to convert them. In 742-3 Boniface organised the church in the area of Thüringen and founded the new bishoprics of Würzburg, Büraburg and Erfurt. These were seats were filled with people from his circle. His friend Burghead becomes in October 742 the first bishop of Würzburg."

Other Germans
Let the Rugians be Arian but leave some provinces pagan, for historical balance. And the same for the Langobards.
" Its developments among the barbarians were political rather than doctrinal. Ulphilas (311-388), who translated the Scriptures into Maeso-Gothic, taught the Goths across the Danube an Homoean theology; Arian kingdoms arose in Spain, Africa, Italy. The Gepidae, Heruli, Vandals, Alans, and Lombards received a system which they were as little capable of understanding as they were of defending, and the Catholic bishops, the monks, the sword of Clovis, the action of the Papacy, made an end of it before the eighth century. In the form which it took under Arius, Eusebius of Caesarea, and Eunomius, it has never been revived." http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01707c.htm
Later on the Rugians, Herules and Langobards should get an event to convert to RC, if they survive.

ERE: I'm sooner or later going to do some alterations to infra.csv and trade.csv so that the gain from each level will be slightly reduced, which should make all provinces poorer in 632 (and 526 & 476 but since all start with low infra and trade it won't be as noticeable). Sounds good.

Bavaria etc.: Done :)

I hope to get the next version up on saturday ;)

Well, I hope you can squeeze these events in:). Maybe the pop drop is a little bit heavy, but the period of large open peaceful cities was at his end for Anatolia.

The grants were large enough for infantry to support themselves and their families, while cavalry and sailors could afford to hire tenant farmers to work the land. They were always on call for defensive duties, besides their annual spring training and occasional offensives; unlike mercenaries, they would fight very fiercely to protect their land. The system worked very well, increasing the size and effectiveness of the military, raising the prosperity of the countryside by creating a class of small freeholding farmers, and reducing government expenses."

A large army that could appear next to capital on short notice is especially devastating when they are also the ones supposed to put down revolts. Particlularly the Opiscan Theme, based around the capitol, was a danger. In 741 Artavasdus, the commander of the Opiscan Theme, seized the emperor's throne for two years. The Emperor by right, Constantine, won the backing of the Anatolic and the Thracesian Theme. Constantine sieged Artavasdus in Constantinople for one year. The new version has been uploaded in the proper forum.

Mendoran: Nice events. They are included in the uploaded version, I did add triggers so that Romans have to have atleast one of the affected provinces, and fixed indentation (however that is spelled) and a few errors in the triggers (it is exists = TAG not exist = TAG, an easy mistake).

Now I'm going to concentrate on Franks 511-561, so in the next version the dividing of the Frankish Kingdom will be better. ;)

Wow that is going to be some rapid borderchanging if you start from 476!

I've made some events for the Caliphate that should allow for some expansion. This is how I managed while testing them
1e777o

I haven't seen how well the ai will fare yet, though they should have little trouble with Persia, I defeated them without any trouble whatsoever. The Romans offered some resistance, but not enough as you can see.

Now I think the Caliphate should probably gain some additional cultures. But when should they gain them? As soon as they get some of the provinces (where I already have events in which the culture may given) or later or earlier? The cultures in question are syrian, egyptian and persian.

You read my mind! I thought about it this morning. I think the trigger should be the capture of a certain province with important city in it, ie: Damascus or Jeruslame, Ctesiphon and Luxor. But would it just be control or really owning the prov?

The C looks great! I've fought against the C with ERE and my troops got a big beating. As they should historically :D . I only could fend them off in the mountains. I had to cede Judea, Samaria and Syria in a peace deal they offered.
But the offer came very quickly. Maybe de DIP rates for the Caliphate should be toned down a little bit. I think the C wasn 't keen on compromise, just keen on conquering :D.
And after the deal they didn't do anything anymore. Maybe an "Jihad" event could fix the job. Something like this:
event = {

id = 10XXXX

name = "Jihad!"
desc = "To war and smite the infidels!"

}

-And de Sinai prov could be given Arabic culture. I think it had but, anybody who thniks different, correct me.

And now for something completely different...
Lofman, could you tone down the needed land and navaltech points for the advances?
I played some games starting from 476 but, I never get to the tech level where scenario 526 or 632 begins. This is not because I wasted it on something else. I played a very peaceful Vandalia (just annexed Kutama) but, in 526 I did not even got halfway landtech level 2 :( . Even after I poured all my money in it after 496 (when I finally got admlevel 2).
In 526 Vandalia start with landtech 4 and navtech 7 ! I think this needs some balance.
