You dare insulting the Archon?! My Scout Lance is already on the way to your place.
Can they pass a note on to Alessandro for me?

Seriously though. I like the trailer. It's nicely serious with good art and appropriate music. Makes it feel like the Arano restoration is significant, but doesn't outweigh the real purpose of the 'mercenary'

I think the style of the traler is very fitting and sets a good mood for a turn based BattleTech game. Now, if it was a real time action game or a shooter then I would agree with you.
This is HBS signature art style. Look at the Shadowrun titles for inspiration and similarities.
I like it.

This actually makes me wonder, was there any Polynesian-flavored houses before now? Seems obvious in hindsight, as most other ethnicities are represented somewhere.
It's a wide universe.

"-let's talk money."

"Right, Olivia, you have the bill? Please let the nice lady see what liberty and freedom cost this season, and be sure to give her the true believer discount. And, Lady Arano? If you can find us a Warhammer? We'll get you your throne back."
Okay contract fulfilled! Now where's my Warhammer!!??

"Darnit! I knew I should have specified the Mech in the contract verbiage!!!"

I like how it was all high-minded, inspirational, and preachy...then she got down to money. Focus our attention back where it belongs.

Okay, got a look at this - I'm really more than a little disappointed that it's instantly presumed that money is all I'm interested in! How about a clean conscience? Seeing the universe take one more step toward being a place of justice? Plus, getting a date with Princess Arano...? That's enough to get any of yer red-blooded men lined up with the bouquet of roses and baby's breath, chocolates from Godiva (or whatever the Thirty-first century equivalent may be), and an AC/20 tucked under their arms...

Yeah, fine, I'll skip the pure-of-heart bit and fess up that getting the Argo equipped with a first-rate Blaupunkt sound system would be nice...yes, my priorities are in place...what I really need to do is get my laptop upgraded so that I can actually run the game when it comes out. My compliments to HBS on putting together a nice little trailer that hints enticingly without giving too much away. Anticipating April 24th and our decent into a world, a galaxy, a universe where honour and integrity are commodities that almost always have price on them. Continuing forward with the table-top game (and all thanks again to the HBS crew for reconfiguring the initiative and movement rules), and looking forward to a darkness rising. One of the contingencies for hiring on with our displaced noble is Princess Arano's cell number...

I like that there was first an appeal to support a Cause, then an appeal to Honor... and only afterwards, a financial appeal.

I think it most definitely sets the proper tone. : )

They should totally put DFA characters in. I'd love to hire Jackal and all his yokel family.

(No spoilers, haven't finished season 1 yet)
Hiring Jackal would be amazing... but only if he had a predilection to "PUSH ALL THE BUTTONS!" : )

No spoilers given, but it might be a little hard to make these things happen. Though with success . . . I'm sure they can figure something out, I mean they let Mainfram3 drive a 'Mech.

And let us not forget the Catlas. : )

I'm noticing a similarity in style between this and the Homeworld series cut scenes. Is it just me, or might they have employed some of the same artists?

Compare to this from Deserts of Kharak:

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak Cutscenes:

Anyway, the more I see of Lady Arano the more I expect to like her. She wouldn't be in the market for a dashing consort would she? I clean up suprisingly well. :D
Nope, while the final product looks somewhat similar the production techniques are different. For one thing, the BBI HW: DoK cinematics are made with live actors in some scenes, and then a paint-over technique is used to emulate the style of the original HW games.

I'm not exactly a fan of this art style either, but it's what you can expect from a small developer. As long as the story behind it is good it's fine to me. And I have zero doubt that HBS will deliver on that one.

Also, that K2 in the vid makes up for a lot:

I really want a HQ version of that shot.

that trailer is amazing
the story looks great but also, this wasnt a game I was expecting to put any detail into people models what with being busy making giant robots, and those characters, different shapes and sizes not just one in different clothes and colours. Fantastic!
also, Giant Robots
