is europa expanded compatible with the converter o nay? i used it a few times without problems and just now i got a bug, my game crashes when i interact with macau (clicking the province) after march 1659 (playing as dutch and with trade company in that area) i guess it would be that or i don't know what else, only using the converted save, europa expanded, responsible warfare and blobbing.

If they have scripts that rely on the existence of certain countries, then that's a 50/50 if those countries will exist in the conversions in the first place. If it crashes then for your specific conversion it doesn't work but for some other it might be ok. Or noone will ever click Macau...

i see haha, i will try to finish the save without getting too close to china then, thanks!

Hey, so I'm trying to convert a modded version of CK3, and apparently I must've picked the wrong mods because the converter's not liking some faith images.

I've gone in to try to solve the issue, figuring maybe it was a webp and needed to be a png or something of that nature but looking at log.txt and the file that's throwing the error (kapalika.dds) it looks like dds is the correct filetype.

What I'm wondering is how I can push and twist this square peg enough to pop it into the round hole the converter's expecting. I understand the converter can't account for every mod, but I'm no slouch when it comes to operating a computer so I think I should be able to finangle it with some kind of directions, I just don't know what exactly is giving it a fit.

Ok, so:

2024-09-04 17:12:01 [ERROR] CK3ToEU4Converter.exe: ImageTypeNotSupported `D:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/1158310/2241658518//gfx/interface/icons/faith/kapalika.dds' @ error/dds.c/ReadDDSImage/1767

The mod uses that picture there. DDS is correct format but the encoding is likely wrong or unsupported by imagemagick - meaning it can't take the picture and put it in the EU4 religion strip to be used in EU4. DDS files have a ton of options as they are used for rendering stuff in game engines and whatnot, it's much more complex than a png. You need to grab some DDS editor, open it, and resave it with some other options that it was. Hopefully that helps.

I can't even remember the correct options. Maybe something like this:

No mip maps, that's for sure.

Huh. I think I actually have Imagemagick on my computer somewhere. I'll try resaving it sometime tomorrow then.

Thanks for your help!

E: Looks like just opening it and resaving it from Imagemagick worked. I didn't even get to fiddle with the settings. Was only that one error though.

Now I'm gonna test out the result and see if there's anything odd going on, and if so, if I can easily diagnose the problem such that I can actually fix it. Looks like mostly mapping errors which probably shouldn't hurt too badly.

Hello, i have problem. When converting, it gives this error: 'Character 2656 has house 0 which has no definition!' How to fix it?
Can't, that's savegame corruption for whatever reason. House 0 means character is without a house or was linked to maybe some mod that got disabled mid-game. Upload that imptock3 mod and I'll see what can be done.

Do you mean this?
Been taking a look at this. Check here:

That's the guy 2656 and he doesn't belong to any house or dynasty, because he wasn't defined to belong anywhere:

Hrm.

I see this isn't considered a bug by CK3 though IIRC in vanilla every single holder has a house/dynasty, which we expect to exist as you must have a house in oder to properly set up dynastic relations.

@IlikeTrains Is this an IRtoCK3 bug?

I am about mid-way through Imperator Rome in a Mega Campaign using Timeline Extender, Invictus, and Crisis of the Third Century with IR, and then TFE with CK3, for a completely internally consistent campaign. The IR - CK3 converter seemed to work perfectly, except when I try and test the conversion between CK3 and EU4 using a test conversion from IR to CK3, it bricks the converter with the error "Character 8041 has house 0 which has no definition!"

I have identified that this issue is sourced from the IR - CK3 conversion mod, and specifically seems to be that a vast number of characters converted, in the mod's "/history/characters" folder, have been converted with no dynasty. This causes absolutely no issues in CK3, yet no matter how many centuries into CK3 I try and convert to EU4 (Which should kill off any said characters), the CK3-EU4 converter fails.

Further, it seems if I delete the dynasty-less characters in the mod, the quoted error swaps to a different character number, which I presume indicates that it fixed the error for that specific character. However, I really hope this isn't the sole recourse, as that would require me deleting ~400 characters in Notepad++ manually.

So, those who know far more than me about how the CK3-EU4 converter works (and maybe better yet the IR-CK3 converter as well), is this a bug with the CK3-EU4 converter's compatibility with IR converted games (Which it should be going by this forum page), or is this the IR-CK3 converter being broken? Is there any potential easy solutions to this I am missing?

I would appreciate any help, and have attached the test save file I am trying to convert from CK3 to EU4, thank you!

Well, the converter update didn't fix the issue on my end, but I suspect the only real way to fix it is the brute force method. So, anyone got any tips for making it easier to manually delete ~400 characters from the mod file?
Yeah, sorry about that, yesterday or so Ir-ck3 converter was fixed to stop producing feudal rulers without dynasties. This doesn't address the fact your save is already full of them, which is simply gamebreaking for ck3-eu4 converter. We expect feudal people to belong to a house of a dynasty so we can set up relations and a host of other stuff, from localizations of countries, even coat of arms sometimes depend on dynasty tweaks. Can't work without it, sorry.
You could maybe add some dummy dynasty or link them all to some existing one you see in the save instead of deleting the people outright.
We already ignore anyone who isn't relevant so only people that actually held titles are ones we try to load. Maybe only a portion of those 400 will cause issues.

That is a relief, thank you! Honestly, as mentioned, this was only a test of the conversions to see if I had any issues like this (First time including IR in a mega campaign), so HOPEFULLY by the time we finish IR it shouldn't be an issue for us, but if it is, that would very much make it easier.
