I'm more looking for advice than strict troubleshooting, but I was a dimbo and must have accidentally ticked the Sunset Invasion option without meaning to. It's 1556 and no European other than Norway has any colonists (inadvertenly also slowing down the Reformation), the New World is some massive High American battle royale which all might be fine except for the fact that the Mayans are now colonising the Congo, which is...just ridiculous.

I doubt reconverting at this stage is going to help because I am otherwise enjoying the game, and the New World has so far had relatively little influence on the Old (apart from the fact that our insitutions all started over there, which should have got me thinking). Is there a better way of fixing this than writing an event that does something like: for any nation with a capital in the New World, sets their tech group to something sensible (by region), removes all idea sets and institutions, and deletes all their territory (maybe except the capital/primary culture provinces if I'm feeling clever); and then another event/set of events that gives some selected Western European nations exploration/expansion ideas instead of one set they currently have?

I Got all the way to the part where you convert the game and received these error messages found in the photo. Do you know where I went wrong?

Well, you can edit the game with console and scripts as much as you like, just keep in mind what's done is done - you can't alter the mod of a running save and if you reconvert with correct options you will have to restart entire run.

Now, as far as institutions go, you enabled dynamic institutions which caused them to spawn all over the place, which is a separate problem from having a Sunset Invasion enabled.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes and realize there is an advanced civilization in the americas that's threatening your "civilized" European existence, I'd approach this as an unexpected challenge and gear up towards surviving and dominating Africa and India/Indonesia, so you can stand up to them in Vic3 and HoI4.

The paths are wrong.

It's supposed to look like this:

Out of interest, what happens if I reconvert with intended settings and then copy the save file into the new mod? Presumably the province history will take over from the save and still have the Aztecs all over the place, but future events should occur as "intended".

This would normally be my thought too, except that I am playing Persia and ideally want a Europe that can contest me for a good game.

That really depends. If you have an identical set of tags in both mods then probably nothing odd, but what future events? Institutions? Just delete dynamic institutions from the mod so vanilla ones take over. You can do that whenever without any risk.

Okay so the conversion looks successful, but I think I'm missing a step. I can't find the save in the EU4 play set. Do you know what I'm missing?
The converter produces a mod, not a save. If EU4 launcher does not see the mod, it's possible it's looking not at Onedrive folder but at regular folder in your documents. Eg.
c:\Users\<user>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\mod
If your mods are there, move the conversion mod and once the launcher sees it, add it to a fresh playset and start that playset from the launcher first page.

Alright I'll give it a try. Thanks for your help and patience.

I'm trying to figure out how to do that But I'm not sure how. Do I need to remove the file from one drive completely?

Go to whatever folder you have some mods in. It looks like this:

If this is in the OneDrive folder, all is well and the launcher obviously uses it. If this folder is NOT in OndeDrive path, the go to wherever you exported the conversion mod and manually move it. Or just convert the save again, this time to the correct folder.

If you have no other mods, go to steam and subscribe to anything, and let the launcher create the mod folder with some mod files in it.

In either case, once you have the conversion mod in the same folder as the rest of your mods, the launcher will see it. Then add it to a playset and use that playset.

So I manage to copy and paste the file into documents directly however I still can't get it to show up in the game. Am I using the wrong mod?

You are exporting to a wrong folder.

Painfully I did manage to figure it out. I'm going to look over everything I did today and try to record the directions it took to get their. I don't know how it happened but the files for the mod were in a completely separate place. I had to find it by looking up the files directly and manually placing them where they were supposed to go via your instructions. I then created the mod and copied and pasted them in the correct place. Again very painful but I managed. Hopefully it won't be this difficult the next time around. I'll be sure to donate to your Patrion first chance I get.

FAQ

Q: What about mods?
A: Unless they change how cultures, religions or flags work, sure, use mods. Total map overhauls are not supported (of course), and whatever new cultures and religions are brought by the mod - you'll have to add manually in the files in configurables folder.
Hi i apologize so much if this seems a silly or redundant question. Ive used the converter for a few Ck3-Hoi4 Mega-campaigns and was interested in doing a shattered world MC. Ive been looking everywhere i can think and am having trouble finding the answers im looking for (could be a search query issue) but i had a couple questions:
1. Is a "Shattered & Full Random Start" considered a total map conversion?

2. Does doing full random on faiths / cultures technically affect how they work & are they considered "New Religions" that would need to be added manually?

3. Is a "Shattered & Random" world even possible to use in a megacampaign conversion? Can i only shatter realms but not randomize faiths, cultures & titles? Can i do some combination of this?

Again i apologize if this was mentioned somewhere and i wasnt able to find it! I wanted to be sure this was even possible before i played a campaign expecting to go to Hoi4 and find out it isnt possible while im trying to convert my save! I absolutely love the work youve put in to the converter and i appreciate any time to read and respond greatly!

1. No.
2. No, no.
3. Yes, yes, yes.

I suggest you start a game and immediately export it to EU4 to see what happens when you randomize everything.
