It appears the Bassilissa is not as drunk all the time as she would have us believe. Perhaps the Chinese took this offer thinking she was drunk? Whatever the reason, she has pulled off quite a diplomatic coup. Well done.

Maybe the seeming drunkenness is protective coloration..?

Chapter One Thousand-One-Hundred-Sixty : Little Things In Life

rn5PCa2Q_o.jpg

This chapter opens in early December, of the year 953 AD, with a report from the Jau Duchy. The folder was pretty thick but held only bad news.

GWrckW8a_o.jpg

The young Duke Jau Jinshan disliked the Empress. Which was annoying as it meant he refused to join the Empire willingly.

hMxCepoE_o.jpg

Still there was a chance her Magistros Bhikkhu Akakios of Durjaya would be able to fake a claim on the holdings. Or maybe the whole Realm. Still he was only a competent diplomat so it might take a long time. Or he may totally fail.

She drained a cup of wine and went to a the folder on the Great King of Lanka.

DQsjQUzO_o.jpg

Then there was Maharaja Nandamitta of Lanka. The kid was 13 years old now. In three years he would marry. So of course she tried, one last time, to match him up with her Heir.

pT8lZKwp_o.jpg

Everybody agreed to it. But that didn’t mean much as they ALWAYS agreed to it and then broke the the agreement later.

She drained another cup of wine and went to have dinner.

In mid December she was brought more news. Bad news to be honest.

kLNM5u8g_o.jpg

Seems Eustratios, of her own Dynasty, was plotting to kill Kaisarios Almi. They were Rivals it seems. Which would explain why Eustratios was planning to kill Kaisarios.

“Tell him to stop,” demanded the Empress as she moved to the next report. Another murder plot.

pxjMCv3F_o.jpg

Dhairjendranayaran was a Lowborn planning to kill Harasimhadeva. Who was also a Lowborn.

uEL8K34J_o.jpg

It was about who would be the next Bhikkhu of Rajrappa. Harasimhadeva was on the top of the list. Dhairjendranayaran was the second in line.

“Buddhists killing each other to become a Religious Leader,” murmured the Empress as she drained another cup of wine. “Tell them all to stop.”

This is the main downside of ruling a huge Empire. You'd think the Bhikkhu of Rajrappa would not want his councilors killing each other and would tell them to stop plotting, but no, it's the responsibility of the Empress instead.

Why can't these folks stop their scheming and follow the Basilissa's great example: stay drunk and mostly happy?

However, the more she drinks maybe the less she will notice or care about all this?

Big catch up done.

Folks, just to let you know, my Mom passed away about an hour ago.
So only just saw this: my deepest condolences. I know your pain.
I will likely still work on the AARs, it helps me in some ways, but it will be on and off.
I found that too. Hope time since has begun to heal.

My old laptop which held my V2 and CK2 games was having issues with the new Windows. And its age. And the fact I bought it so many years ago used. So both games, their saves, and their images were moved to my newer PC which holds Stellaris and everything seems to work. Yeah!

Chapter One Thousand-One-Hundred-Sixty-One : Good news!

l9zVwuEL_o.jpg

This chapter opens in late December, of the year 953 AD, with some good news from her Upadhyaya.

KpZomdNQ_o.jpg

Seems he had finally changed a majority of the people in the County of Samatata to the True Faith.

4eYWlDaL_o.jpg

It was about time! Now to send him to convert another County.

KWNmKLew_o.jpg

The County of Munda, which was Hindu, needed to be changed to Buddhism. So off Konstantios "The Merry" went.

N0gKSCTg_o.jpg

And her Heir was still in a arranged marriage with the Great King Nandamitta of Lanka. Which was good.

fFc6mMN4_o.jpg

Later in December, while at a prayer meeting, she noticed the Bhikkhu Akakios was sleeping in his seat. So she decided to wake him up before anybody noticed.

EtdT4gcs_o.jpg

He seemed upset at the elbow in his side at first but soon realized what had happened and thanked her. She told him to think nothing of it and called him friend. He seemed be grateful.

Things were looking good. And she could drink to that!

Can you only get a positive response from that event? (I could just imagine the person you woke up getting very angry and stating they were awake)

Depends on how you handle it. I assume if they dislike you it may go wrong or maybe it depends on your stats.

Chapter One Thousand-One-Hundred-Sixty-Two : Breaking Up Is Easy To Do...

YKnFQ0Fe_o.jpeg

This chapter opens in late December, of the year 953 AD, with the Empress finding out the arranged marriage had been BROKEN again!

wzz1PC6R_o.jpg

Yes, it seems the Great King of Lanka was no longer in a arranged marriage with Simonis of the House Dysnomia.

This was upsetting enough. But then in January of the new year the Empress was told some more bad news.

o5ChYt3L_o.jpg

Seems Count Theophanes of Viraja had founded a new movement. To make Count Arsenios the NEW Ruler of Kamarupa.

SWfRPYIe_o.jpg

"Damn them!" murmured the Empress. "It could drive a gal to become sober!"

Not as bad as Niphon for Maurya. But still annoying.

Chapter One Thousand-One-Hundred-Sixty-Three : Politics

UNoSRzcZ_o.jpg

This chapter opens in late January, of the year 954 AD, with some good news for the Empress.

nvUrbSW0_o.jpg

Seems Count Theophanes had disbanded his Faction. Too bad there were still so many still around. Including two to put Niphons on the Imperial Throne.

KScC1Rol_o.jpg

Then there was news that Exarch Hrodgar "The Good" of Kham had picked a Mongol to be his Steward. How weird! Though the new Steward seemed ill.

Mb14dSwu_o.jpg

Also it seems that one of the Imperial Commanders, Timotheos, had died. Leaving behind a wife and two children.

7DrfR1Hy_o.jpg

So, first, Dorothea "The Merry" was hitched to Prince Niphon of Maurya of the House of Dysnomia.

"Wait...did I just marry her to one of the Niphons they want to replace me with?" said the Empress after sending the proposal. "D'uh!"

kFowESmh_o.jpg

Then a new Imperal Commander was selected. The best warrior had a low opinion of the Empress.

as6B5d57_o.jpg

This was PERFECT. He would fight for the Empire. And if he died in combat ALL the better! Dance puppets, dance!

VrkH4dWw_o.jpg

Then Exarch Hrodgar "The Good" of Kham picked a new MAN to be his Steward. Count Theophilos of Markam, who wasn't a Mongol, but did dislike the Empress. As did his Liege. And had claims on all the Imperial titles.

She pondered, for a few seconds, on what happened to the Mongol Steward? But not for long.

The Empress went back to drinking.

Small note - I added a few threadmarks for major events. Mostly new rulers.

PS - Just suggest any other major events you think need threadmarks.

Chapter One Thousand-One-Hundred-Sixty-Four : Friends!

p9g58qVp_o.jpg

This chapter opens in late January, of the year 954 AD, with the Basilissa Eulalia "The UnFaithful" examining her life. She was rich, powerful, and well liked. Well, liked. Well, nobody had tried to kill her lately.

wzIN197G_o.jpg

Her Empire was large and spread out. She was trying to expand it, of course, but it was getting harder to do. No piece of land had been added to the Empire in years. Well, decades to be honest.

gCLVm787_o.jpg

Still, the income was good. From taxes and trade. She even received some money from the Mercenary unit they hired out. Only spending some on her Retinue's pay, room and board, took coins out of her coffers.

1UisV0lk_o.jpg

But at least she had friends. Well, one REALLY good friend. Besides the booze. Khagan Tuzniq II "The Tyrant" of Menumarotid. Who REALLY liked her. And had another friend BESIDES her.

"What? Who? How could he!" said the Empress. She drained a bottle of good Greek wine before switching to Indian beer.

DWYwJnS2_o.jpg

The other friend of the Khagan was Chief Maxtla of Vas of the Aztec Empire. He was very much a man of business and enjoyed making a profit. No doubt being a Trader is how he met Khagan and they became friends. His opinion on the Empress on the other hand was pretty bad.

"I don't care what he thinks!" she lied before running to her bedroom to throw up in the chamber pot and then crying herself to sleep.
