Someone was asking which stars are in the Sol sector, for Naval HQ purposes:

All of the inhabited systems. Every one.

I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who wishes to explore the game but there is a reason why they are called "spoilers" and are separate from the Non-Player Races. When you fight spoilers, you will encounter things that don't make sense for a normal race and eventually you figure out their specialty. But how you explain that speciality is up to you.

Just like you can imagine/draw/describe your ships to be any shape you want and that a light vehicle with a Crew Served Anti Personnel weapon could be a Kübelwagen with an MG42 or a Kiowa Scout with an M60 or a levitating anti-gravity disc with a repeating laser gun. Or even nine sapient raccoons working the pedals of a walking robot.

This also means that you don't have to play as humans. It takes a little work for the initial setup, but it's very much possible to play, say the Zerg from StarCraft just by starting in a different system and renaming lot of things.

As for the minimum engine power tech, it can be useful for saving fuel for extreme scenarios like Emu described, plus end game engines get ridiculously fast, so your civilians will remain somewhat fast. And it's also possible to play without civilian shipping lines at all.

Blue - you mentioned some pages back that if people stop engaging with the thread, that’s when you tend to stop playing that particular game… and that makes sense and I’d never blame you for ending a game at whatever point that seems fitting to you, regardless of other factors.

Having said that, I just wanted to say that I appreciate what you’re doing and though I may not post much, mostly because I’m not sure what I can contribute in any meaningful way, I am thoroughly enjoying what you’re doing here and I will try to show that through increased “likes” for a more visible form of engagement even if I don’t actually post that much.

Keep up the good work, my man!

Yet another important tech.

sb-950.jpg

Turret Tracking Speed tech allows the gun turrets to be lighter and more compact while still achieving the same target tracking rate.

So this tech will make certain ship armaments (PD Turrets, for instance) and STO turrets somewhat smaller and lighter.

EDIT:

Example : Our Quad-barreled Gauss Cannon PD Turret is 87 tons lighter with the new traversing gear.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

I worked for twenty years making cartoons for TV... everything from content aimed at pre-schoolers (working with Leslie Nielsen as our voice-actor), to working with one of the Ren-n-Stimpy guys. So if people aren't having any fun with my stuff, it starts to lose its point.

Not having fun with a Blue Emu AAR? That would be quite an (negative obviously) achievement, one difficult to get, really.

The size reduction made possible by the more efficient traversing gear is just enough to allow our 5,000-ton Gauss PD STO to contain three turrets instead of two.

One of the gas giants in the recently conquered Lalande 21185 star system has a quarter of a million tons of Sorium at 100%.

Nice spot for a refinery. Each ton of Sorium makes 1,000 liters of space fuel.

I foresee a new version of the Storm class PD vessel coming up ;)

I'll have to at least have a look at everything with turrets. Including all the STO except the Spinal Mounts (which cannot be turreted).

.. and you just redid the sabres too, right? Though not the bigger version laser gunships.

Yeah... Sabres aren't turreted, though, they are spinal (for any single weapon, the two traits are mutually exclusive).

The Fleet Destroyers have both a big spinal mount and also some PD turrets.

Will we ship the fuel to Earth and store it there or make a storage further outnin the empire?

I’ve enjoyed following every one of your games/AARs!

(And hope when you’ve played this one to the end, you feel inspired to return to your DF game—that one is fun, too! I’ll also understand if you don’t.)

I’d second this request!

Is there a link to a DF game you’ve already done/started? I’d check that out in a heartbeat!
