Seven hits on the Freighter but it keeps going.

The Tech that we get from wrecked Modrons will give us a new level of Missile Engines.
True, and then we'll go way up again.
Though, is it worth it to build these retargeting missiles before we get that engine tech?
Isn't 1.5 mil km top level range? So unless we expect to.run into top level opponents, couldn't the separation distance rhen be lowered to say 1.2 mil?
His beam weapon tech, fire control tech, RADAR tech, missile tech and engine tech are all better than ours.
His lasers were better too?

I'm not even sure that they'll shoot at it.

They appear to be headed for the jump point.
Is ir possible they may have spotted rhe spy ship and is hunting her?

The Bork situation is still unresolved. We won't be getting new engine tech THAT quickly.

Possible.

The Sarthe does 96 points at point blank. We have nothing remotely similar. Our best Advanced Spinal mount Heavy Laser does 53 points.

Maybe.

Fourteen more missile hits destroys the Freighter. And another salvo was fired, which we won't see any sign of.

That brings us up to 260 missiles expended for Red 2 + Red 3.

Unfortunately, almost all of that is Red 3... but that mean that if we can whack Red 2 then the rest will be plain sailing.

Wouldn't red 3 have been plain sailing in any case, though, sa it does't have that many tubes.

21 tubes is around 400 damage, no? -(378)- And an Emotion has what... 286 Shield?

I posted this about prisoner interrogations :

"In post 10008 we pick up the lifepods from Red 4 in the Lernea system (no ingame date or time listed)
in post 10176 we drop our lifepods onto Lernea on November 22nd at 02:56:20
in post 10178 blue emu guesses that perhaps we get interrogation from them after a 5 day passes
in post 10218 we get intel from them about Abuser at Nov 23rd 05:02:30
in post 10221 we get intel from them about Mechanus jump points at Nov 23rd 05:10:30

so we don't get intel until we drop them on a colony, and when we do, we get intel incrementally, not all at once.
"

but was told this on the Aurora forum: "You get intel points upon picking up the pods in 2.5/2.5.1, and will get them after interrogating prisoners at a suitable colony in 2.6.0."
and this:
"In VB6 Aurora, you can gain espionage points from interrogating the survivors picked up from life pods. In C# Aurora, the same principle applies, although they are now Race Intelligence Points and are added to those gained via ELINT.

The rate at which Race Intelligence points are gained from survivors is Crew / 10 + the cube of the rank number of any captured officer (so R3 would provide 27 points). This is more important than the same algorithm in VB6, because there are now potentially multiple officers per ship.
"

But there's nowhere you can see either THAT you have gained "Race Intelligence points" or how many you have gained, but apparently for every 100 Race Intelligence points you get a piece of intel. Which we got two of from Red 4 lifepods.

So I don't know if or when we might get some intel from the Red 1 prisoners, but losing the ship that recovered them seems like it won't matter

Couldn't jt be the later updates to until.waa from the red 1 crew?

It's not that they have stopped, they just haven't started yet. They're still in the "asking nicely" phase. (At least it looked like there was a kind request there.)

Yeah. There was a polite suggestion we leave in there. With a bit of luck the diplomatic hit is low enough that the diplomats can offset that. We don't have much of an alternative at this time.

Immobilized warships.

Sounds good.

Maybe we should think about what we want the battle zone on our end of that jump point to look like when they jump in. Maybe put some vessels like the carriers outside their missile range.

If they're less xenophobic than the modrons might it then be they won't continue sending requests?

I think they will only stop doing this when we reach friendly with them. And maybe not even then.
If we do reach that level though they may be xenophilic and our gain of diplomatic points is good enough to make that no longer matter.

One can hope, at least.

No, I think he's correct. We get the necessary points when we pick them up, the actual information gain happens some time later.

If we had time we could have gotten those points from ELINT vessels but now we'll have to do it the fast way.

How is using elite to spy on the planet faster than interrogating prisoners?

Reading comprehension, Wagonlitz. The fast way is interrogation.

Are we leaving some forces on the Harmony side of the jump point as they approach to try and draw out some missiles?

Yes.

I already have an Admiral parked on the Harmony side of the jump.

They should be our EM-brightest ship.

So the ideal scenario is they waste all their missiles against the JP camping ship before jumping into the ambush? With wasting all the missiles and running away a close second?
