Nay, no, -1, futuristic/space stuff is stupid in my opinion. (Just my opinion).

I'm excited. Been wanting a Space Grand Strategy ever since Spore didn't deliver xD

Sounds very generic as far as space 4X goes. Sure, it has the pop and internal dissent that's been lacking from the rest of them, but you need a little more than seven factions to provide proper grand strategy diplomacy. The symmetrical and random setup also disappoints me - I hardly remember the setup of the many playthroughs I've had over the years in Civ, Endless Space and the many (many) others, but I do remember that one time Sweden inherited Britain, or Switzerland was the Emperor. There might be divergent paths, but ultimately random becomes generic - everything looks like something else, yet not enough that you form any attachment to them. Civ was the only 4X to break out of that by providing clearcut countries with known faces, specialties and preferences. The EU predetermined setups not only took history but expanded on it, making each nation memorable. Who here hasn't heard of the Big Blue Blob at this point ? Or for Civ players, Gandhi's love of nukes ?

Here's to hoping, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed so far.

Read again. 7 large factions to start as. But many many smaller factions.

Let's face it, what is the difference between Cleves and Luxemburg? Cuzco and Chimu? Candar and Ramazan? Siena and Florence? Most EU4 nations are not memorable in the slightest, they just conformate to a generic template. I think seven unique alien species is indeed more uniqueness than in every other Paradox game.

I hate win conditions and acchievements, and always ignore 'em.
Me too. My one and only fear is that game will be a linear race-to-win, thus removing the choose-your-own-goals sandbox element that are the primary reason I don't play any strategy games other than Paradox's.

I can live with an end game and even a few victory conditions. But if the game penalises me for having fun focussing on internal dynamics by saying 'blob or die' I'll be very sad and re-playability will be 0 for me.

I've never done a world conquest in any Paradox game, and it's the most boring and uninteresting thing in the world to me.

Doomdark producing the game is quite a guarantee. I like what he's said in Gamescom... emerging stories from the beginning, like in CKII, EU4 diplomacy and interaction in the mid-game... and Victoria's mayhem in the late game. I really really encourage the effort of doing all game phases interesting.

Actually. 7 factions + custom ones you can select freely:

"Alternatively, design and name a custom species with the government and attributes you desire"

Yes. But there will also be a lot of unplayable minor factions in the space ;)

Steam page said there will be a ship designer. Ugh, I could not care less for that. I'm one of those guys that would rather build a preset unit and carry on with something else. I don't want to have to fumble around with trying to make my ships as efficent as possible.

Space games are about as generic as you can get so it mostly boils down to execution.
I know Paradox can make good gameplay, what I'm most counting on is a sensible setting. Hard sci-fi please, look to works like Alpha Centauri for inspiration :)

I just hope the ship designer has logical tradeoffs that make sense and effect the attributes of your ships.

Like do you want offense or defense, do you want range or speed, do you want payload or engines, and so on.

I shall be disappointed if there isn't a Jewish based faction to play as simply because of this:

I'm throwing money at the screen but the game isn't coming out of it!

if you're throwing money at your screen how can you see your screen? seriously bro, get the money out of the way and check steam
