Was the background music and the "warm up" music from Stellaris?
I would just like to mention that music was awesome. Seriously, i would put the game on if i have guests in my apartment, just for the music.
It was really good.
Music sounded a lot like Tron: Legacy.

Oh yes. Yes please.

First the exploring, and then the war! And then robots!
And then POPs changing and becoming desert nomads running for presidency and then they revolt and OH MY GOOOOOOD!

I'm expecting a Warhammer 40K mod to come out right after release.

I am disappointed. :(

I would've preferred another grand strategy, particularly Rome 2 and Victoria 3 that are now critically needed.

But still, good for those who wanted a space game. I am sure this will be a nice game, and maybe some day, if this is sandboxy and good enough and I have a wish to get into space/science fiction genre, I'll think about buying it.

Good luck, Paradox, I am sure developers can make this a great game.

Create your own ships with unique designs
Eh... why every space game needs this?

I really dislike it, personally. I'd much rather have a selection of finely designed ships, each of them with their role, then being able to "customize" ships (quotemarks because this often amounts to throwing as much of the newest unlocked weapon as possible).

Sins of a Solar Empire had the right idea, for me.

Sounds very generic as far as space 4X goes. Sure, it has the pop and internal dissent that's been lacking from the rest of them, but you need a little more than seven factions to provide proper grand strategy diplomacy. The symmetrical and random setup also disappoints me - I hardly remember the setup of the many playthroughs I've had over the years in Civ, Endless Space and the many (many) others, but I do remember that one time Sweden inherited Britain, or Switzerland was the Emperor. There might be divergent paths, but ultimately random becomes generic - everything looks like something else, yet not enough that you form any attachment to them. Civ was the only 4X to break out of that by providing clearcut countries with known faces, specialties and preferences. The EU predetermined setups not only took history but expanded on it, making each nation memorable. Who here hasn't heard of the Big Blue Blob at this point ? Or for Civ players, Gandhi's love of nukes ?

Here's to hoping, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed so far.

PDS, no one will ever be totally pleased. If it floats you guys boats and you still support the projects your loyal fans want/long for/demand, then best of luck in your new IP
