Damn.

Well, I guess we could expect something like this to happen soon.
So what do we have on the planet and in the system right now?
Most of the Fleet is there, right?

Can we evacuate the diplomat now? It's only a matter of time before they shoot at him and if they decide to fight leaving him where he is is useless.

A bigger "Damn!" is that they are launching those missiles from 200 million km away (twice our own missile range) and they move at nearly 80,000 kps.

Our own warheads also move that fast... but only for the last 2 million km of their flight, not 200 million!

We appear to be heavily out-teched. In ship's speed and missile capability, anyway.

I'll do an inventory of what we have available later... obviously the space-port hasn't arrived yet.

It is time to teach them the error of their treacherous ways.

Do we know what size the warheads are?

Have we any estimates of their magazine capacity? Are we facing a high alpha strike of 140 missiles or is this going to be a sustained barrage size?

(Obviously we don’t know the answers yet!)

Looks like they pearl harbored us. :( Still, I place my bet on the Emu Empire. So, any warships available? It's time to fight!

We have a fleet surrounding that planet. We're not entirely unprepared. Though losses look likely, especially if we have any of those unshielded ships sitting around that planet.

.. besides, speed advantage on their end and more range means we can't shoot back. The only upside I see is that this is 'only' 20 salvoes. I really hope our missile defenses can hold out against that or it will become painful.

Stealth missiles?? If we can't catch them when they can see our missiles, can we add stealth so they can't be seen? At least to the main bus anyway. Let the main bus cruise up low and slow under stealth. Then, once well within our envelop, break stealth and run them down. Is something like that a possibility?

Do we still have our old, out of date missiles or did we break them down for gallicite? If we still have them, can our fighters sneak up on them and force them to waste AMMs on our old junk then hit them with our newer missiles from a different direction? Maybe the direction they picked as they retreated from our waves of old missiles? We really needed that minefield lol

Or maybe, we pull "Ender's Game"? The enemy's gate is down. Let their fleet attack harmony while our fleet rains down nuclear fire on their home world.

There are tricks.

Fighter strikes from multiple different directions. Running away downrange to run their stuff out of fuel.
Firing waves with different speeds to create overlap in arrival time.
But mostly those require preparation and/or speed. Right now we have neither.

The thing with old missiles is that those tubes can also be used to fire new missiles. And what we have on site is what we have, may as well use it if we have the range.

Taking a short break over Christmas and New Year's.

The tech situation is quite discouraging. We already knew from observing the performance of their ships that they were ahead in engine and radar tech. This mass missile launch from double our own firing range indicates that they hold a similar advantage in fire control and missile tech. The only place we might be ahead is gun tech, and before we can use that, we must first survive their missile attacks and then CATCH them.

A raid on their home system would make sense if we had some way for our fleet to survive the run from Harmony to the jump point. We don't.

Looks like our best tactic is to huddle near the planet so that our multiple sets of STO can act as anti-missile defensive guns.

So in essence we're boned?

Or do we stand a chance?
Can we sue for peace?

Can't sue for peace.

If we can soak off all their missiles, nothing stops us from hitting their home world.

Understandable. This kind of thing wouldn't be good for my morale either.

Take care of yourself. This game has been quite enjoyable so far, and I am sure it will stay that way regardless of what happens next.
