Yikes, what happened to the color scheme of the terrain map mode?

Flatland - plateau is totally indistinguishable for me (probably a color blind thing once again?).
Is Plateau green now?

At risk of sounding like a broken record: green-yellow-orange is near-impossible color scheme for the majority of colorblind people.
About 1/12 men has colorblindness. Considering the PDX game demographic, 1/12 players will have issues with these colors.

Regardless of color, flatlands-plateau really needs a better contrast (imo there was nothing wrong with the previous scheme, was the previous color scheme really that poorly received?)

Agree about the general aesthetics, but the devs have already confirmed colourblind accessibility options for three different types of colourblindness.

How about population? The previous map of germany has a lot of issues with that
Yes, we yet have to review it, but we think that it's better to keep moving the rest of the feedback, and later post reviewed population maps.

Interesting to see tags being removed, did that happen in any previous feedback post?

Anyways RIP Eppstein your funny name will be missed

And now, to the maps!

Countries:
View attachment 1255391
View attachment 1255392
View attachment 1255393
The first map with no colored wastelands, the second with colored wastelands, and the third, we are showing the entire territory of the HRE, not only Germany.

HRE IO:
View attachment 1255472
This is the updated HRE IO map, with the different categories (Prince-Elector & Archbishop-Elector, Imperial Peasant Republic, Free Imperial City, Imperial Prelate, and Imperial Prince). As usual, take the map mode as WIP (you may notice that it has already changed since the original Tinto Maps post, making it easier to read).

And here you have the current total number of members:
View attachment 1255395
Not all the countries appear in this box, you have to scroll a bit in-game to be able to see the remaining ones.

Provinces:
View attachment 1255412
View attachment 1255413
One of our German content designers has reworked the provinces. We've tried to get a balance between those that could directly translate to English, such as the different provinces of Styria, and those that couldn't be translated easily; so for a native German speaker, some will sound a bit weird, but we've tried to be consistent with how we manage it in general.

A bunch of changes after your feedback, especially on the Vegetation.

Development:

Harbors:
I've noticed while preparing the Feedback post that we haven't posted the Natural Harbors of Europe, so I'll prepare another separate for them!

Cultures:
View attachment 1255434
There are some adjustments to the cultures, but not big changes.

Languages:
View attachment 1255435
View attachment 1255436
View attachment 1255437
The first map is the dominant languages, the second is the dialects (which, I remind you, is primarily used for flavour, and close to the 'language' linguistical definition), and the third is the court language.

Religions:
View attachment 1255442
Not many changes in the religious map, only a few Waldensians were added to Austria.

Raw Materials:
View attachment 1255445
Lots of changes!

Markets:
View attachment 1255446
We haven't changed the market centers, you may notice some differences with the Tinto Maps post, which depend on the constant balancing we keep doing to this feature.

And that's all for today! Remember that on Friday we will be taking a look at a German country, Bavaria. Cheers!

Some areas are German (for example Vorpommern), some are English

Areas:

Terrain:

A bunch of changes after your feedback, especially on the Vegetation.

Development:
View attachment 1255429

Cheers!
Is "Bay" a translation for German "Gau"?

Here you can see Cologne Bay (which for me sounds like Gulf of London) but also Kraichgau (with gau). Why not just Kölngau?

It will take a while, we are now focusing more on the review of locations and other aspects of Tinto Maps, and will probably concentrate the pop review in 'batches' later on, as it's now more efficient to do it this way. But we haven't forgotten about any regions with pending pop reviews, don't worry about that. ;)
Is this the reason why Markish and Brandenburgish are different cultures? They really should be combined once the pop-editor is fixed.

Just a few points around Schleswig-Holstein. On the Provinces map you have a province called Schleswig and anther called Sonderjylland. However, Sonderjylland was historically part of Schleswig, so a better name would probably be Northern and Southern Schleswig respectively. Furthermore, on the area map you have Schleswig as part of Denmark and Holstein as a separate area. I would suggest merging all of Schleswig with Holstein under the name Schleswig-Holstein and (if it does not already exist) introduce a formable of the same name. In my view this would better reflect the situation for most of the game period. I am aware that it is not until the Treaty of Ribe in 1460 that the Danish King Christian I promises that the two dutchies shall forever remain undivided, but already in 1326 Valdemar III had promised that the Kingdom of Denmark and Schleswig should not be united under the same ruler. Therefore the idea of Schleswig being part of Denmark was already being challenged at the start of the games period.

Can't see any honeywax in the Raw goods map.
Didn't they mention that they added it as a raw good in several post before?
Maybe it's actually a manufactured good now?
Hmm, I think it may be a bug... But you will have more news on the new resources soon, I think.

Can we also throw in some Low Country stuff here too?
We still lack a lot of maps in the first Feedback post :p

I'm still skeptical about the forest and woodland density for the Low Countries. Anyone who has any sources on why it is to be considered this densely forested in this time period? The Low countries switched to peat as the main fuel source in the 1200's for a reason.

Limburg and the Campine area had a lot of Heathland in the sandy regions (imo 'Sparse' could be used for the worst parts of those regions, like Bree, Hasselt, Turnhout, Eindhoven). Most modern forests in the region are introduced in the 16th century (initially for masts in shipbuilding, later for coal mining infrastructure).

-----------------

Breda and 's Hertogenbosch should not be considered wetlands, at least considering the location surface area. The cities are positioned at the base of a local sandy platform, at the edge of the Rhine-Meuse wetlands. Link to paleogeographic maps

Tiel-Nijmegen is also a very fertile wetland, and this part of Gelre was renowned for its wheat fertility, so if no-one else objects I would make those 2 farmlands.

(For those wondering, yes: I will make the full topographic feedback for this TM later on)

Also is it just me, or is the Brugge market extremely small compared to neighbouring markets? I don't see how Lübeck could control the trade in East Friesland when Brugge is a lot closer when following the sea. I'd argue the majority of the locations along the Maas traded with Brugge more than Cologne. All of Guelders, Brabant and Utrecht had more trade with Holland and Flanders than Cologne. I'd even argue that Münster should be a part of the Brugge node because a lot of the trade went along the Vecht through Zwolle.

How many members of these different categories are there (Prince-Elector & Archbishop-Elector, Imperial Peasant Republic, Free Imperial City, Imperial Prelate, and Imperial Prince), and which colours are which on the map? What’s the difference between the lime green and the slightly duller green many of the opms have, or are they all just free cities? What’s the dark blue? Are all Grey members still ‘imperial princes’?
1. We will talk about the different HRE categories in a Tinto Talks devoted to HRE.
2. Lime green are Free Imperial Cities, duller green are other republics, dark blue are Imperial Prelates (= theocracies), and grey are regular 'Imperial Princes' members, yes.
